“Before I was speaking clearly, I was reciting poetry”
I always say that poetry is my native language. It is the first form of expression that ever gave me confidence. It is truly my first love. From writing poems in a “MEAD” Composition notebook and never sharing it with anyone, to being published at age 15, to performing on the stage of The legendary Apollo Theater by age 21. Poetry has given me so much, and I am forever indebted.
